About this audiobook

The first time I met sexy Stanton Baines, I nearly swallowed my tongue.

But that was before he opened his mouth and directed his insolent comments at me.

Not one to back down from a clash, I fired right back.

From then on, Stanton pursued me with a vengeance.

The first thing I learned was he discarded women like gum wrappers.

Second, the control freak thought he could dominate me.

That billionaire might be the boss of everybody else, but he was never going to be my bosshole.

Nor was I going to be one of his crumpled-up gum wrappers.

My heart had been trampled on enough.

Mr. Baines would not be adding his shoeprints to it.

Except he didn’t give up.

The more I sassed, the more he chased.

After he had me wrapped around his pinkie, he left … as in poofed right out of the country without so much as a farewell.

I figured we were over.

Boy was I ever wrong.

I had completely underestimated the man and that alphahole was about to bring me to my knees ... unless I did it to him first.

Author

A.M. Hargrove

One day, on her way home from work as a sales manager, USA Today Bestselling Author, A. M. Hargrove, realized her life was on fast forward and if she didn't do something soon, it would quickly be too late to write that work of fiction she had been dreaming of her whole life. So, she rolled down the passenger window of her fabulous (not) company car and tossed out her leather briefcase. Luckily, the pedestrian in the direct line of fire was a dodge ball pro and had über quick reflexes enabling him to avoid getting bashed in the head. Feeling a tad guilty about the near miss, A. M. made a speedy turn down a deserted side street before tossing her crummy, outdated piece-of-you-know-what laptop out the window. She breathed a liberating sigh of relief, picked up her cell phone, called her boss, and quit her job. Grinning, she made another call to her hubs and told him of her new adventure (after making sure his heart was beating properly again). So began A. M. Hargrove's career as a Naughty and Nice Romance Author. Her books include the following: Edge of Disaster, Shattered Edge and Kissing Fire (The Edge Series); The Guardians of Vesturon series (Survival, Resurrection, Determinant, reEmergent and Beginnings); Dark Waltz, Death Waltz, Tragically Flawed (Tragic 1), Tragic Desires (Tragic 2); Exquisite Betrayal, Dirty Nights; Freeing Her, Freeing Him, and Kestrel (The Hart Brothers Series). Other than being in love with writing about romantic suspense, she loves chocolate, ice cream, and coffee and is positive they should be added as part of the USDA food groups.

The book was about a woman who has been in abusive relationship after abusive relationship only to end up in yet another abusive relationship. The writing feels forced and mechanical at points.

Domestic violence triggers. Even Stanton displays dv traits. He controls her to the point she has to agree. If he weren't the love of her life, he would just be a psycho male that can't let go.....Again I need to warn you, the guy is a bully and the Attraction she feels for him, means she will put up with abuse..

Abuse isn't sexy. I don't understand this character at all. She came from abuse. Has agency. And welcomed the new abuse. This kid is tucked.

I'm on chapter 38 and this book is extremely irritating. I'm confused as to why she is with this guy. Her dad was abusive... Her ex-boyfriend turned out to be an alcoholic and attempted to control her. Then she immediatly jumps into a relationship with this guy and yeah he was good for her UNTIL HE left the country after an accident. She finds out she is pregnant. He returns and when he found out she was pregnant and she didn't tell him. He becomes this controling asshole... AFTER HE EVEN WENT TO THERAPHY AND REALIZED THAT HE WAS CONTROLING AND NEEDED TO WORK ON IT!!! He gets her fired from the job that she loved so she would be forced to work for his company. Then he gets her evicted from her apartment and blocked her from being able to get a new place to live because he hired people to hack her credit JUST TO FORCE HER TO MOVE IN WITH HIM! His family even allows their bother to treat her and manipulate her. Her best friend doesn't really help her out either and I find this intresting since she was in an abusive relationship before in a previous book that I've not read.

She lets him manipulate/bully her..... She didn't learn her leason and is incredibly clueless for a lawyer.

Fingers crossed that Stanton and Stacey figure out how to actually communicate and hopefully Stanton continues to go to theraphy because from what I've read he has only been a few times.

I really liked that it touched on DV, however, they don’t really resolve anything… and then there was the Stockholm syndrome…. Which puts the main character right back into an abusive situation

Meh, it wasn't doing what it thought it was felt very gaslighty. Seems to be missing a lot of key points and glossing over resolutions.
