About this audiobook

Once, the name Macalister Hale was uttered in the boardroom with respect. Now, it’s whispered in disgrace at cocktail parties hosted by Boston’s elite.

Scandal nearly destroyed me, but the one thing larger than my infamy is my bank account, and I’ve learned money can solve anything.

Well—almost anything.

Sophia Alby’s preferred currency is secrets and the way she trades information puts Wall Street to shame. This girl charges into my life and claims a partnership can restore my reputation. My downfall was swift, but with her, my climb to redemption will be greater.

Our arrangement is professional. Appropriate. It has to be, because she’s half my age. But it doesn’t stop me from wanting . . .

To move on. To control and indulge in her. To hear the name Macalister Hale echo in her breathy moans.

But I can’t. Giving in to temptation led to my undoing before, and I won’t survive it a second time.

What our readers think

Readers find this title to be a mixed bag. Some reviewers loved it, considering it the best book in the series and emotionally engaging. However, others felt that it didn't fit well with the previous books and focused too much on a sexually abusive character. Overall, opinions were divided, with some finding it anticlimactic and disappointing. Despite the mixed reviews, the book still has its fans who appreciate its emotional depth.

This feels like it should not have been included in this series. The prior 3 books were really about Royce and Marist's love story and battle with his emotionally and sexually abusive father. This book is purely about the abusive father pursuing some random 20 year old who doesn't mind being sexually humiliated and treated in demeaning ways. I don't get into sexual abuse and humiliation so this book did nothing for me and it certainly didn't add to the series whatsoever. The author really should have quit at the 3rd book while she was ahead. I felt like it said more about the author that she felt like the sexually abusive character she created was likeable enough that he deserved a book devoted to him where he continues his games of control and demeaning sex acts towards women. If she wanted to write a book about an abuser and his latest sexual conquest it should have been a stand alone.

This book also feels like it was written by someone else. The syle has changed and it's narration choices did nothing for it. It was pretty bad. To top it off neither character was very likeable.
