Description

Happy Satiated Saturday! I started practicing yoga when I was 20 years old. It was the first practice I had ever engaged in that brought me closer into my body. We often get these messages that embodiment practices will help us with mindfulness and find inner peace. But, the truth is that the act of doing something to bring you closer into your body can feel intense. Food can often come in to support you in keeping yourself at a distance from your body that is holding on to past wounds, traumas, and emotions that feel too much to be with. Embodiment practices can also be a process of learning to sit in discomfort and make it more comfortable little by little. Just like an onion, there will be many many layers to this healing journey. In this week’s episode, I chat with Livia Shapiro, author of the Somatic Therapy Workbook, about what healing from an eating disorder can look like, what tools you will need to learn along the way, and the power of embodiment and movement practices. You can also read the transcript to this week’s episode  here: https://www.stephaniemara.com/blog/non-linear-healing-journey-from-an-eating-disorderIf you're on this healing journey and looking for more support, email me at support@stephaniemara.com anytime.
