Description
"If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal." (1 Corinthians 13:1)This famous passage about love is part of Paul's letter to the church at Corinth. This particular church is steeped in sin and idolatry so Paul spends a good bit of time warning them about their sinful actions. But he also lets them know that good moral behavior isn't the heart of what God is after. God cares about what motivates our behavior and since God's motive is love, He wants His people to be motivated by love too. Think about it. When you make better choices than someone else, isn't it easy to feel proud and arrogant? Paul says we're missing the point entirely when we act and think like that. On top of that, it's annoying like a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. I don't want to be like that. May our pride be silenced. May you tap into and be motivated by the great love God poured out on you through Jesus. He's where the joy is!
