My guest today is Ryan Smith. Ryan is a 58 year old plant based CrossFit athlete, a Navy Chief, with a passion for drag racing. Six years ago, Ryan experienced a near fatal bacterial infection in his lungs, and due to the illness and subsequent medications his health hit an all time low and he gained 75 pounds. At this point Ryan decided to take his health into his own hands and made a dramatic transformation. Join us for this week’s episode as we talk through Ryan’s journey from obese and sick to optimum health (spoiler alert – he lost the weight and got off the meds). Along the way we discuss exercise, plant-based nutrition, recovery and finish with a brief discussion on what it’s like to be a drag racer.
