Abundance in Health Forever - Michael Kwakye MD CPT

Chapter 1: Establishing a Foundation for Change

We must set the stage for building the body and mind we've always wanted as soon as possible. It's not about just lifting weights and keeping track of calories.  Our mindset is the foundation of any permanent change, and it gives us the ability to be committed to making positive changes in our lives. A robust, growth-oriented mind that doesn't shy away from challenges is the first step to achieving top physical and mental health. Besides that, it's essential to know that taking care of yourself isn't selfish; it's necessary. Making time and plans that respect our bodies is what it means. Let's agree to go all in since we're about to start something new, shall we? No half-measures, just a full-on dedication to becoming healthier and happy.

Mindset Needed to Improve Your Health

Changing your health takes more than a passing desire or a New Year's resolution that fails by February.  Let's examine the mental framework that enables transformative health gains. A health-centered approach starts with dedication. This is a lifelong pursuit, so you must be locked in. It's a promise to yourself that your well-being is non-negotiable, regardless of life's ups and downs.

Next is having self-awareness and mindfulness of your body and its relation to the environment. It's about understanding your body's signals, the impact of your diet, and how movement influences your well-being. Instead of living in ignorance, awareness lets you make educated decisions and understand the implications of your lifestyle.  As much as it is important to be active daily, it's also very important to listen to your body when you are tired or injured to avoid over-exertion.

Accepting change is vital. We often resist change, especially when it's hard. However, your health is about evolving outside that comfort zone. You must embrace new habits and routines with your heart and mind.Patience is key. Sustainable health changes take time. New behaviors require time for your body to adjust. Celebrate tiny wins and realize that every step forward is a big win.

We must remember adaptability. Life throws curveballs so often, but adapting your health-focused plans will save you from getting frustrated. Flexible means effectively handling hurdles while keeping your eyes on the target, without surrendering your goals.

Perhaps the most overlooked part is self-compassion. Days will come when you fail or fall short. Instead of self-criticism, treat yourself like a personal cheerleader.  Move forward without guilt after learning from the incident. A growth-focused attitude emphasizes continuous learning. There is always more to learn about your body and health as you progress in your health journey. The desire for knowledge will keep you moving forward and avoid plateaus.

Accountability is huge and is a big motivator. Accounting for your goals in a notebook, with a buddy, or with a professional can push you and remind you of your commitments when you lose steam.

Gratitude is very important to keep in mind. Appreciate your body's current abilities, not simply its potential. This positivity encourages a healthy relationship with your body rather than one based on criticism. A positive outlook might be your best friend. Believe in your abilities to create meaningful changes, but be realistic about the time and effort. This balance keeps you from getting discouraged if development is slow.

Remember  connectivity. Build a community with people who support your health goals to help you through tough times and celebrate wins. Group fitness courses and family cooking can boost your health and social well-being.

Finally, persistence underpins everything. Roadblocks and doubts will arise. But with perseverance and self-belief, you will overcome the obstacles. Each step toward a healthier you, forward or sideways, is part of the dance. If you keep your mind open and your commitment strong, you won't steer off course. With the appropriate perspective, you will be off to a good start in your physical and mental health marathon. As we close on this chapter, here are some questions to think
