Summary of Forever Strong By Dr. Gabrielle Lyon - Willie M. Joseph
Introduction
Muscle-Centric Medicine® aims to overthrow conventional wisdom on the foundation of good health by helping individuals understand the root of their body's strength and take swift steps to feel stronger, look better, and add years to their lives. The author believes good health starts with the most important muscle of all: the mind. After completing med school, the author spent two years in psychiatry to study what makes people the best versions of themselves. The thinking patterns and brain pathology studied have become invaluable to his work helping patients reach their full potential.
After attending Washington University for a combined research and medical fellowship in geriatrics and nutritional sciences, the author witnessed the pain of patients trying to lose weight and the consequences of damaging lifestyle patterns. Working with patients like Betsy, a mother of three in her early fties, revealed that the real threat lay with what she had failed to build. She realized that the medical community had gotten the narrative all wrong, and the consequences for countless individual lives would be devastating.
Muscle-Centric Medicine® became the author's mission to repair what he felt was the medical community's biggest failure and to share the groundbreaking science that has the power to revolutionize our pursuit of longevity for extraordinary health at any age.
The author shares their experience of struggling with constant cravings, low energy, blood-sugar issues, and confusion about what to eat and how to exercise. They cycled through various diets and focused on an unbalanced diet of carbs and whole grains, with local vegetables and beans. This led to an unhealthy relationship with food and a disordered relationship with nutrition.
The author discovered that nutrition can be a touchy subject, with many people struggling with food science and personal struggles with nutrition. They discovered that many people have a long-term relationship with eating and struggle with weight and food obsession.
The author aims to help people find the freedom they've been seeking by promoting muscle health through the Lyon Protocol, a combination of nutrition and training instructions. The program focuses on muscle-centric lifestyles, allowing individuals to make lasting improvements to their body composition and overall health.
Within one month of adopting the Lyon Protocol, individuals can gain muscle, lose body fat, and have more energy. By building a protein-forward nutrition plan, focusing on healthy muscle tissue, and establishing mindset guidelines for execution and consistency, individuals will feel better immediately.
The author's goal is to help people achieve extraordinary health, recognizing muscle as the organ of longevity. Muscle-Centric Medicine® is the future of health, and the author encourages others to do the same.
