    About the Author

    Heidi Skolnik, the author of this book, is an exercise scientist and nutritionist with an extensive career in clinical nutrition, performance nutrition, and public education. She sees clients at the Women’s Sports Medicine Center at the Hospital for Special Surgery. She also oversees Performance Nutrition at the School of American Ballet and the Juilliard School. Previously, she was one of the National Menopause Foundation advisory board and a board member of the National Osteoporosis Foundation. Skolnik has also served the New York Giants as their team nutritionist. Up to this day, she has authored several books, such as Grill Yourself Skinny, The Athlete Triad Playbooks, and the co-author of The Reverse Diet and Nutrient Timing for Peak Performance.

    Stephen Perrine, on the other hand, is an executive director of the AARP Bulletin and AARP the Magazine. He oversees the fitness, health, and nutrition coverage in the magazine. He achieved the New York Times bestsellers in the diet and nutrition field for more than two dozen works. He has published several titles such as The Everygirl’s Guide to Diet and Fitness, Zero Belly Diet, and Wheat Belly. Perrine appeared as a weight-loss and nutrition expert on many health programs such as Dr. Oz, Good Morning America, Today, 700 Club, and The Early Show.

    How this Book Was Written and Why

    The authors saw many people suffer from weight and health problems in their midlife—many experience physical decline, which leads to health decline. Moreover, many people of this age feel like this decline is inevitable.

    However, it’s not. The authors found that a flat belly at 50+, or even a fit physique is more than possible. Being in your forties or fifties isn’t an excuse for gaining weight.

    It turns out there are simple ways for us, people in their midlife, to maintain or lose body weight and maintain muscle strength. However, there are a few caveats that you have to learn, which the author will repeatedly explain in this book.

    With all things considered, the authors curated a lifestyle plan called The Whole Body Reset plan. It encompasses the way of eating: how, when, and what to eat. Furthermore, the authors also complemented the plan with an exercise plan ranging from beginner to advanced levels.
