INTRODUCTION
Do you remember that moment in time when you began more intensely wondering how best to approach life to ensure a long healthy existence? Yes, I mean your own specific life. Will you live to a ripe old age of 95+ as your financial plan forecasts, or will you succumb to illness and slip away much younger than desired?
So much for worrying about outliving your money. But seriously, there really is no way to know exactly when your time is up. However, why not do everything in your power to extend your time on earth for as long as possible? My only caveat is that you likely want to do it in grand style. By that, I mean enjoying nights out at the movies or theater, eating delicious food, spending time with family, including great-grandchildren, reminiscing and laughing with friends, traveling the globe, and experiencing the wonders of the world.
This is what I call living a Vibrant Life. At least, this is how I would describe vibrant living: enjoying each and every day, doing, being, and seeing what inspires and delights you.
Back in the day when physical magazines were a thing (I don't think they are anymore), many magazines claimed to hold the secrets on how to keep those wrinkles away, how to brighten your eyes, diminish aches and pains, straighten your posture, improve the texture of your skin, and flatten your stomach once and for all.
I suppose if you've kept up with the latest science on this subject, it appears they are no closer to that magic pill or potion. But unfortunately, we are still inundated with such claims, the quick fixes, the special lotions, or the five things to avoid to look and stay young.
The difference is these advertisements are hidden or not so hidden while we surf the net, stream videos, browse online stores, or do pretty much anything on our various devices.
For me, I have been, let's say, obsessed with healthy living since I was a child. I was always curious about what made that relative smile and look so healthy compared to another relative with a frowny face that looked like they had just rolled out of bed.
My curiosity about health led me to apply and be accepted into nursing at our local university. For the past 30+ years, I have enjoyed and have been challenged in my work within the healthcare field.
Early in my career, I realized that I wanted to focus on preventative health. In other words, how can I help someone before they are so sick they need to be hospitalized.
My journey into holistic nutrition began many years ago and has shaped who I am today and how I help others improve their health and life. These days, I educate, coach, mentor, and write about all things health and wellness, especially for the over 50 crowd.
I am not a doctor, so please consult your family doctor or health practitioner before embarking on any recommendations in this book. I am pleased to say, though, with my Bachelor of Science in Nursing, a diploma as a Holistic Nutritionist, certification in Health and Life Coaching, and my training as an Aging in Place Specialist, I have accumulated skills, training, experience, and intuition on the subject of Longevity and Eating Habits. I am pleased to share my knowledge with all of you.
My wish and desire for you is to live your best life, the life you deserve; what I call Vibrant Living.

WHAT IS LONGEVITY?
Let’s start at the beginning by defining precisely what longevity is. According to Wikipedia, some confuse ‘longevity’ with ‘life expectancy,’ but these terms are quite
