he purpose of this book is to empower you with the knowledge that you can change the expression of your genes within your lifetime and future generations.

Since epigenetic changes are reversible, you can combat the development of diseases by changing your lifestyle and eating habits. You don’t have to stay sick or suffer from health issues for the rest of your life. You can make the choice to control your own health, and it all begins in the mind. So mind your thoughts.

    Introduction

    O

ur genes are not our destiny! What we do and what happens to us matter. We can turn off bad genes and turn on good ones by changing what we eat, what we think about, how much we sleep, how well we are paying attention to our nutritional deficiencies, and how well we move our bodies. Our genes don’t change, but our gene behaviors do!

This book will teach you how to be more aware of what your body want by learning how your body functions and how to pay close attention to what your body is saying and take prompt action to fix the underlying problems. Lifestyle Disease does not come without a cause. Unresolved emotional trauma and stress, including negative thoughts can influence our health in a profound way. Some other underlying causes of disease are the environmental stresses that overwhelm the body's ability to maintain balance. These include nutritional deficiencies, toxic overload and mental and emotional stress such as marital problems, toxic relationships, negative work environment and other life situations.

You don’t just wake up and become chronic all of a sudden. Every modern lifestyle chronic disease state starts out as an acute process then progresses to a chronic disease state when you violate the 8 laws of health (Nutrition, Exercise, water, sunlight, temperance, fresh air, proper rest, and trust in God.). When you repeatedly abuse your body and neglect the signs your body is telling you to see, then there's a cascade of events that will start off the disease process through imbalances in tissue state and each stage progresses slowly in a predictable way. Prompt intervention at any of the stages is likely to be more effective if the root cause is stopped than treatment given after the disease has progressed and become symptomatic. Praise the Lord for second chances. Just like the lifestyle disease process is progressive, it is also reversible and can be prevented with healthy lifestyle changes. It is so comforting and healing to know that with the right knowledge, you can take steps to interrupt the progression of early adversity to disease and prevent chronic health issues later in life. You can reverse the process. Every disease starts with irritation which may presents as inflammation. The subacute stage is the transitional phase between the acute and the chronic stages. If not treated, the inflammation will result in pain, the body's most effective warning sign. If no intervention is rendered, then it progresses to a chronic state of disease which is the slowing down of the body's operation. This chronic state can last for months to even years and then eventually results in a degenerative disease state.

Chronic diseases are not cured when you take medications, you are only managing the disease state or multiple chronic disease states. You may be able to suppress specific symptoms with drugs or remove diseased tissue with surgery but unfortunately, the root causes are still unresolved. The underlying problems are still going on. This is because the symptoms are the results, not the root cause of the disease. When you gain understanding of how chronic disease happen, you are well informed and empowered with the knowledge to fix the underlying problems.

Health and chronic disease depend on how you choose to treat your body. When your body is complaining with the symptoms presented, you should learn how to listen and take action. This is the body's attempt to get rid of the irritants. You can choose to learn how your body function so that you can know how to remove stressors and support weak body systems to allow the body to heal itself. If you choose to follow the eight Principles of Health and make the necessary dietary and lifestyle changes, the body will have enough strength to get itself back to harmony.

When you learn to reduce stress, minimize your daily exposure to environmental toxins, heal unresolved emotional conflicts, forgive and let go of the past traumas, adopt a positive mental attitude, maintain supportive social connections, fix your digestive problems, take appropriate nutritional supplements daily and live a healthy lifestyle, you will be able to combat chronic disease and have the body we want.

Epigenetics is the study of changing how a gene behaves without changing the gene itself.
