    Physical Activity to Slow Aging

Physical activity slows aging by lowering cholesterol, blood pressure and blood sugar levels. It improves your blood circulation that transports oxygen and nutrients to your muscles and vital organs leaving you feeling refreshed.

The best time to be physically active is before breakfast when your blood sugar is low; your body will metabolize stored fat into energy instead of blood sugar.

Low intensity physical activities involve deep breathing to metabolize body fat into energy. High intensity physical activity involves shallow breathing to metabolize blood sugar into energy.

Aerobic exercise with kettle bells can strengthen all your muscles with simple movements while giving you an aerobic workout. Kettleworx claims that you can burn on average 1050 calories per hour. Walking briskly can give you a great aerobic workout while toning your legs and abdomen. By walking briskly, for 3 miles per hour, you can burn 300 calories per hour.

Hula hooping is a fun and creative way to lose weight and metabolize unwanted fat in the midriff, tighten the torso muscles and enhance the flexibility of the spine. By hula hooping you can burn 400 calories per hour.

Join a swimming club or take lessons and learn to swim. By swimming vigorously you can burn 700 calories per hour.

Skipping rope is an awesome cardiovascular workout that helps strengthen the arms, shoulders and calf muscles. By jumping rope you can burn 700 calories per hour.

Water aerobics is a low impact exercise class usually offered at a community swimming pool. This form of aerobics improves core strength, flexibility and endurance. By doing water aerobics you can burn 300 calories per hour.

    Learn to Reduce Stress

Physical activity releases endorphins into your blood stream to reduce the level of cortisol, a fight or flight hormone that is released in response to stress.

Laughter releases endorphins that will give you an overall sense of well-being while relaxing your muscles.

Natural sunlight increases the production of serotonin, the happy hormone.

A simple way to alleviate tension and induce relaxation is by taking a bath in a tub of warm water with a few drops of lavender, tangerine or rose essential oil. Essential oils are potent, so when using essential oil for massage, blend 12 drops of essential oils with one ounce of sweet almond oil.

    Belly Breathing

Take time during the day to do the following belly breathing exercise to relax and increase your energy.

Sit up straight in a comfortable chair. Push the lower part of your back to the rear of the chair. Do not cross your legs. Drop your shoulders. Close your eyes and let all your thoughts drift away. Visualize yourself on a sandy beach. Feel the warmth of the sun on your face and shoulders and the cool, gentle breeze on your back. Enjoy the sounds of the waves crashing over each other. Place one hand on your belly. Draw air slowly into your lungs
