Introduction

Hello everyone! This is Andy Proctor, and this is The Four Connections: Daily Routines to Ritualize Happiness and Boost Positivity, a course from Scribd Coach. Thank you for joining me. I'm very happy that you are here. I’ll walk you through this important journey of ritualizing happiness and boosting positivity. 

Before we start, I'd like to share a little about myself. I’m a certified positive psychology practitioner and the host of the podcast More Happy Life, where I interview thought leaders such as Positive Psychology founders Martin Seligman and David Cooperrider, Olympians, New York Times Bestselling Authors, TEDx speakers, and more. My research tools have been used by universities worldwide, including Stanford, Duke, Florida State, and many others. I’m currently doing a PhD where I’m studying the impact of adult friendship on health.

I’ve spent much of my research looking into the strategies people use to become happier, more fulfilled, and more connected and why they work. I’m excited to share these findings with you. 

Now, let's begin.

Almost everyone has their definition of happiness. To some people, it's their favorite basketball team winning the championship. To others, it's the smile on the face of their kids, and to many people, it's something sweet and random, like the affection of their pet. However, if there's one thing that most people agree on about happiness, it's that it is a moment. Of course, there are many people who don't see happiness as a moment and are constantly upbeat, but the reality is that there are so many who think happiness is fleeting. Think back to the last time something truly made you happy. That last time that you felt inexplicable joy. How long did it last? Ten minutes? 20 minutes? And how long did you go before feeling that way again? A day, a week? 

For most people, happiness is usual but not continuous. They aren't continuously positive, and they see nothing wrong with it. And to be fair, I didn't think about this too much until I celebrated my fourth anniversary with my wife. We got some tickets to the
