Netherlands is a very colourful country, abundantly rich in natural offerings. Dutch are loving people, having their colourful old traditions, and their unique cooking traditions.

Since the country is located in the fertile North Sea river delta of the European Plan, the Dutch cuisine is shaped accordingly. Fishing, farming, and trading overseas through sea have been going on for hundreds of years.

The original, traditional Dutch cuisine happens to be very simple and straightforward, that includes several vegetables and little meat, with bread being a staple at breakfast and lunch, but dinner consists of meat, potatoes, and certain seasonal vegetables.

The Dutch food is very rich in carbohydrates and proteins, for they enjoy eating lots of dairy products and meat. Milk is produced in abundance in the country, and the Dutch cheese being one of the best in the world, dairy products are regular part of their meals.

With the passage of time, and the influx of people from other countries, new eating habits developed and modern foods have also made their place in the Dutch society, however, though the Dutch celebrate many holidays with special traditional foods.

In big cities, the diet has definitely changed and become much more cosmopolitan, with new fast food joints, MacDonald’s, KFCs, and other food chains having established their business in Netherlands.

The present book includes some of the most popular traditional Dutch food recipes. They are not very difficult to follow, but with a little patience, following the instructions given in the book, you can easily prepare these dishes in your own kitchen.
