It is for the reader’s kind information that this is not the original text of "Bridget Jones's Diary." It is only a guidebook written to help students of English literature.
If you are interested in reading the original text of the play "Bridget Jones's Diary," then this is not the book for you.
Guide books or book notes are primarily written to make students understand the original text better, especially from all those angles that are often overlooked by a casual reader.
But, in recent years, it has been noticed that a very large majority of the students, without reading the original texts, rely on the guidebooks or notes prepared by their teachers or others.
This is definitely not a healthy habit because students do pass their exams with the help of such notes, but they miss so many things that haunt them in their later lives.
After reading this short treatise, I would strongly advise all students to read the original text once again, even if they have already read it. You will see that the same story, after reading this treatise, will begin to give you many new meanings.

Chapter 2
Introduction
The novel Bridget Jones's Diary,
by Helen Fielding, is written in the form of a diary. It was first published in 1996. The central character in the novel is the titular Bridget Jones, a single woman in her thirties.
This young woman hopes to lose some weight and develop herself for a better career. She wants to shed her vices; she tries to achieve self-control and find love in her life.
But her tendencies to indulge and to remain lazy become obstacles in her way. She is quite cynical. She fails to find suitable men for herself.
The present novel describes a year in Bridget Jones's life. She is always surrounded by several questions, and the most important of them is why she is not married yet.
During this time, she sees dysfunction in the relationship between her parents and many other people in the society and comes to know that most of the marital relationships are not that strong.
Her mother separates from her husband and develops a relationship with Julio, a young Portuguese man.
Bridget finds solace in being with her single friends. She and her friends get together to get drunk and condemn men in their thirties.
After a long, forbidden flirtation, Bridget enjoys
