    Easy Healthy Cooking Introduction

The Paleolithic Diet and Superfoods Diet - All the Basics of Healthy Living

In this book, the Paleolithic Diet is thoroughly explained from its beginning roots to present day use, all around the world. A special section will also outline the Superfoods Diet, a wonderful way to know the types of nutrition you are receiving. While fad diets have come and gone, nothing can replace the structure of the human body, and what it relies on. Also known as the Stone Age Diet, Paleo leads you to a simple, yet exciting way to build strength, lose unwanted pounds, and keep your body as healthy as possible.

The first section is devoted to explaining why the Paleo Diet has been so long running and successful, what type of benefits you can expect from living the Paleo lifestyle, and detailed recipes to make and enjoy. The name paleolithic, comes from an era, roughly 2.5 million years ago, prior to the growing of grain. High protein and low carbohydrates is what anthropologists have found in studying mummies that are 5,000 years old. Interestingly enough, signs of heart disease were also absent from scientific findings. Without the heavy grains and starches that are considered part of a normal diet today, their bodies were free of disease and early aging.

Protecting the immune system is a great reason for getting to know the basics found in the Superfoods Diet. Keeping our bodies healthy, with the right mixture of vitamins and minerals, keeps the molecules in our tissues from allowing foreign antibodies to enter. When our immune system becomes weakened through an inadequate diet, it is forced to search for ways to survive within our own system. This is called autoimmunity. Diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, multiple sclerosis, and Lupus, are examples of how our bodies can turn on us without being properly maintained with the right selection of diet. Less major issues are bacterial and viral infections. It is believed that by living on a diet of foods that are high in vitamins and minerals, the immune system is able to stay active in fighting off illness and disease.

Food types are shared in this complete text on the Paleo Diet and there are restrictions. For example, grains, grain-like seeds, dairy products, legumes, sugar, and any type of processed foods are prohibited. These types of foods were created after the Paleolithic Era, and believed by many followers, to be the beginning of the end to a natural, well-adjusted body function. Skepticism is also addressed as to why some types of foods are included, and others are not.

The food list page is an invaluable source of buying the correct and essential ingredients in preparing the recipes that follow. Vegetables, meat varieties, fruits, fish, shellfish, and others are listed for later reference in planning meals. Categorized and in depth, there will be few questions as to what foods are included in the Paleo diet. For beginners, changing any diet can be confusing and frustrating. This is why a complete 5-day sample of menus, portions, and meal frequency is included.

If you are an egg lover, the breakfast recipes will catch your eye and give you great new ideas for preparing the most important meal of the day. Lemon pancakes with a taste mixture of coconut, apples, lemon and almonds, will put you in the mood for an active day. Mushroom and pine nuts scrambled eggs is hearty enough for the hungriest family members. Set it off with a super food fruit smoothie, and your morning is complete.

Dinner recipes are easy to make and offer many choices of chicken, lamb, beef and seafood as the main course. Each one has ingredients that may be new to you, but the herbs and spices will highlight the flavor for a more enjoyable meal. Side dishes are also unique with foods such as beetroot, pine nuts and pumpkins, mixed in with favorite greens and vegetables. The snack recipes feature dips and salsas that are filled with flavor.

Dessert has always been considered a no-no with dieting, but not with the Paleo Diet. Even cavemen liked their sweets, be it cranberries, raspberries, or peaches. Enjoy a simple to make raspberry and brie surprise, wrapped in a crescent roll and topped with a delicious sweet sauce. Frozen fruit is also very appealing, especially on a hot, summer day.

The second section of this Paleo Diet book, concentrates on, what is now referred to as, Superfoods. Although this may be the newest buzz word in town, what many consider foods that are vitamin-rich, nutritional, and high in antioxidants, most have always been a part of the Paleolithic Diet. Berries, citrus fruit, kale and collard greens, beets and fish that has a high level of fat, like salmon, are part of the Super Food group. Most of these foods are not exotic and are easy to find. Making soups and smoothies out of a mixture of fruits is a very popular treat today. These recipes can also be found in the Super Food section of this book.
