Emotional Intelligence at Work and Emotional Intelligence Leadership by John C. Allen (Author). Great information to start with for someone who has not read about Emotional Intelligence. It goes through the 4 branches of Emotional Intelligence and explains what it is. I had never read anything on Emotional Intelligence so I do not have anything to compare it to, but I wanted to learn. I think it is well written and is a good start to build up knowledge on the subject

Perhaps one of the best books out there on Emotional Intelligence. I am looking to improve my EQ and this book is a great fit. The book is organized well and simple to follow. Starts with establishing what EQ is, different areas (Self awareness, Self management...) of EQ, and then very specific tools and methods to improve EQ in those areas (celebrate small wins, self care...). Closes with how to integrate the methods in to lifestyle.

This book is the ideal opener to learning and understanding basic emotional intelligence. The book is appropriately laid out to provide a logically follow through of explaining what emotional intelligence is, identifying the IQ markers, clarifying the difference, and explaining how it can influence one's lifestyle and health. It is a good book to help anyone understand emotions, the impact emotions have on one's mind thoughts and ways to improve.

I received this book at a discount for my honest and unbiased review, I did enjoy reading this book and found it as a good eye-opener to human emotions and the way people think.

This book really puts my EI into perspective. I understand now why people behave the way they do.Some really lack the EI that is so critical to managing the work environment. I have learnt a lot by reading this book.

a guide that will help you master and deal with your emotions/feelings accordingly. humans tend to be impulsive with their decisions when they are emotionally affected by a situation or unstable. learning this is a good thing because it will help you as a person generally speaking.

This was an interesting and insightful read. I have studied emotional intelligence at university, and several of my lectures line up with this text. I love the idea of being able to recognize emotions, understand what the emotion is and why it happens, and know how to healthily process it. This is an art and practice that takes much time to develop, and it is cool to see authors finally put these studies into a text. Growing up, I was always taught "Control your emotions", or "Hey, cut that out". In college and growing up these phrases turned into, "Well, just don't be so stressed" or "Well, just don't be so sad all the time, change your attitude." The text does an exemplary job of recognizing that emotions hit us when they want to hit us. On the same note, if we don't know how to manage, understand, and respond to them, we will never live in peace or achieve a better quality of life. Of all the principles and practices contained within the book, I consider it highly valuable and a steady selection for those interested in the topic of emotional intelligence. Great read, great insight, wish more people had access to it!
