About this audiobook

Mother-daughter bonding time shouldn't involve running from a big tractor.
When Harvey Beckett stumbles upon the body of the community's most reviled dairy farmer, she, her friends, and her parents are launched into an investigation that reveals a family secret that wasn't really that secret after all. Soon, Harvey's curiosity lands her and her mother in a heap of danger that may mark the end of her sleuthing
Can Harvey help find the murderer and protect the victim's family before the murderer finds her?

Editor's Note

Bookstore owner turned sleuth…

Bookstore owner Harvey Beckett returns in the second book in the “St. Marin’s Cozy Mystery Series.” Harvey’s shop has been open for a month, and she’s settling into her new town, as well as a new romance. She’s already busy, but she can’t resist looking into the murder of a local — and locally loathed — dairy farmer.

Moves quick and is a bit unpredictable which keeps my attention

Fantasy world of wonderfulness. Everything is joyous. Harvey is a pious, perfect character of obnoxious 'I am in my 40s but no sex while dating for me'. Everyone in her world is also wonderful except her parents who play the pain in her life.

I really like these stories so far, however as a Marylander, there are some inaccuracies that bother me.

First, while Maryland is below the Mason Dixon line and technically part of the South, it isn't "The South", especially in the area these books are set in.

Second, Cecil County is pronounced "see-sil" not "sess-il".

Third, in most of Maryland, we don't have crab boils, maybe seafood boils, but not crab boils. We have crab feasts.

The characters in this series are fun to follow, and enjoy the setting on the Maryland shore in a bookstore. Very enjoyable!

Last chapter of the book is all messed up and glitchy which made it difficult to finish

I love all these books. Not so suspenseful you can’t stop listening and multi task but great to pass the time and keep the mind occupied. Love these books

Great book but it messed up the last chapter of the book so you miss out on the end of the book witch I think is very important.

This was a better story line for me. I was rather surprised that everyone she knows has now moved to St Marin’s. They can start calling it Harveyville!

I enjoyed this story. There is a technical problem in Chapter 12 at 19:22. The audio jumps around and is garbled. I tried playing it several times with the same result. Frustrating. Apart from that, the narration contains quite a few mispronunciations, which is distracting.

    CONTAINS SPOILERS:

Love her books, and I hate to rate this poorly, but chapter 12 of the audiobook (last REAL chapter of the actual book) at around 19:18, the audio becomes glitchy, jumping around, and you don't even get to hear what the actual reason that Meranda blamed Marcus for killing her father. WHAT?! We've been waiting for this the entire book, and now we don't even get to hear!? Better QC needs to be done majorly.

It was boredom throughout and completely hokey is the best word that comes to mind. I got through chapter 10 and couldn’t even finish. And the narrator was very hard on the ears. Trust me when I say don’t bother with this one

Great narrator if she was reading a children’s book. A bit silly.
