About this audiobook
Deacon Katerina Rowe had a quiet life before she discovered her husband’s criminal activities. Now Leon is on the run, and Kat has started a private investigation business with her good friend Beth, who goes by Mouse. It’s plenty for any Deacon to handle—let alone one who’s heavily pregnant.
When a widow asks Kat and Mouse for help, the sleuthing duo find themselves searching for the birth mother of the widow’s husband. But when it becomes clear that the widow isn’t telling the whole truth, Kat and Mouse are drawn into a deadly chase where nothing is what it seems. Meanwhile, Leon is back in Eyam and out for revenge. Can Kat solve the case and escape her dangerous husband?

I have enjoyed the first two books and look forward to listening to the next three in this "trilogy" series, lol. The characters are believable and well thought out. - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5

Couple of things to unpack… I’m an American reader, I enjoyed Murder Undeniable and this one! I however (may be sensitive, bc of my heritage) was saddened by Rowe’s character/identity… I simply wish he hadn’t been Black. He could have been easily just as despicable had he been any other race. His importance was there but his “role” wasn’t a huge one and often times in the second book (along with the DV end of 1st book) I found myself wanting to stop reading all together. I did not stop, clearly as I was able to push through and enjoy the rest of the book for all its twists and turns. Ending wasn’t a shocker but it was good nonetheless. I will read the last 3 books in the series as well. Despite my personal shortcomings I reckon very few readers will be affected by such drawbacks.
Lovely book! - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5

This is a light read. I did not realize this was part of a trilogy and read this 2nd novel having not read the first. I found the characters a bit lacking in complexity, almost too many threads to the storylines, however the mystery did keep me guessing until the end. - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5

When I thought it was over, it wasn’t over. It was just beginning and referring back to another book fairly clearly that had preceded it nicely done - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5

This is the second book in this series. I love the trio of women and their friendship and solidarity. Despite the gruesome nature of the murders, there is always a sense of comfort about the partnership between these women that even extends to DCI Marsden. The ending was unexpected and well thought out. Looking forward to book 3. - Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5

Really engaging female characters and a good plot. My only issue is that no new mother is that perky with a 2-day-old baby, nor that mobile, lol. - Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5

I really like this trio of women, their personalities really complement each other. I also enjoy the way in which their relationship with DI Marsden develops as they learn to respect and support one another. I really liked the twist in this book, I didn't see it coming. - Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5
