About this audiobook

Annie Fitch, a former police detective, struggles to make ends meet as a private investigator in the sleepy town of Leesburg, Virginia. On partial disability because of gunshot injuries, she’s relegated to doing surveillance gigs and background checks. But things are looking up, since her on-again, off-again relationship is back on and might stay that way.

When Annie is hired by Laura Carlton to follow her husband to get evidence of cheating, Annie is certain the case won’t take long. Nick Carlton grew up with money and privilege and has a sex addiction dating back to his high school days. But things go sideways when Annie finds her target dead in an alley just a few blocks from her own home.

Working with her former partner, Gunnar Jansson, Annie digs deeper into Carlton’s background, slowly excavating his past to reveal the multiple suspects and motives. The list includes his many lunch-hour-tryst partners, a local shop owner, and his business partner, among others. Layer by layer, Annie uncovers a truth that runs much deeper than anyone expected.

Editor's Note

Scrappy, resourceful PI…

When a sex addict is found dead, the list of lovers-turned-suspects is too numerous to count. Private investigator Annie Fitch thought her current assignment would be easy — prove that Laura’s husband repeatedly cheated on her — but figuring out who murdered the husband proves complicated. Annie is a scrappy, resourceful heroine investigating misdeeds in the small town in Virginia.

Marie Flanigan

Marie Flanigan grew up all over the Commonwealth of Virginia as the youngest of three girls. Star Wars and comic books dominated her youth. She has a couple of degrees from George Mason University and is a licensed Private Investigator. Over the years, she’s been a disc jockey, a web developer, and a children’s librarian. An avid gamer, she reviews video games for GameIndustry.com. After nine car accidents, five concussions, and brain surgery, she decided that perhaps she was more suited to a quieter life. She and her husband and three dogs live happily and somewhat chaotically outside of Washington DC.

It has all the makings of a good read, but it just didn't flow for me. Very disjointed.

Decent story, but the amount of times it was brought up that the protagonist had been shot when the was a cop was so excessive and corny. Would’ve liked more of an actual plot line.

Main character is pathetic and ignorant. An experienced private eye would not be so unprofessional and lacking in basic reasoning skills.
Sadly, it doesn’t appear the killer actually got her. ?

This was a bit flat, but at least it keeps me interested the whole story long.

    ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Exposed Fury by Marie Flanigan is the first book in the Annie Fitch series and I loved it! What I liked the best was - it felt real! There weren't parts that felt overdone. Everything felt real and believable.
The storyline itself was good and definitely made you guess where all this going. And the final twist was Oh Wow, didn't see that coming at all.
So absolutely ready to dive into the next book!

Annie used to be a police detective but after surviving the shooting, she decided to work as a private investigator. Everything works nice and smooth until she finds her client's husband dead! Nothing will be like before now!

I actually listened backwards. This is the 1st book and Hidden Fury was the follow up. Another really good book and you can tell her writing improved greatly with the second book. Narrator was spot on with both books.

Not bad, though the main character has hardcore “not like other girls” syndrome. Easy enjoyable read, plot twist was a slight let down.

I really enjoyed the story, I thought it was well written. The author could’ve left out that hard profanity the (F-) word. I skipped some chapters because I didn’t want to hear that word. I hope the other books are not using that particular word that will have me to stop listening.

It was just ok I think the writer gives too much unnecessary information and the ending was a let down this one is one and done

Excellent writing and plot/character development. I want to thank the author for not allowing her female characters to make absolutely stupid decisions just to add tension. I'll look for more books by Marie Flanigan.
