About this audiobook

The daughter of a schizophrenic, Dr. Jane Evans prioritizes order, control, and—above all—her work in a psychiatric research lab. When an attempted kidnapping threatens to derail the project she’s on, her boss hires a bodyguard. He’s everything Jane is not, and if she can survive, she may even learn to like the difference.

Eric Sorensen owes Jane a debt he can’t possibly repay. Without her tutoring, he would not have made it through college, would not have the life he does. But none of his memories of college Jane prepare him for adult Jane. When she suddenly disappears, he follows her trail to a secret lab in a cartel-controlled Mexican jungle. Rescue seems impossible but Eric’s not the type to give up, even if it means trading his own life for hers.

Editor's Note

Intense Action...

In “Mind Games,” a psychiatrist doing sensitive research is nearly kidnapped, so her boss assigns her a bodyguard — the same man she helped tutor in college, leaving him with a sense of deep gratitude toward her. When she disappears, he is determined to find and rescue her, even at the cost of his own life. Curtis’ romantic suspense books show a realistic deepening relationship, even as the suspense intensifies.

Laura K. Curtis

Laura K. Curtis has always done everything backwards. As a child, she was extremely serious, so now that she's chronologically an adult, she feels perfectly justified in acting the fool. She started teaching at age fifteen, then decided to go back to school herself at thirty. And she wrote her first book in first grade. It was released in (notebook) paperback to rave reviews and she's been trying to achieve the same level of acclaim ever since. She lives in Westchester County, NY with her husband and a pack of wild Irish Terriers, which has taught her how easily love can coexist with the desire to kill.

It could and should have been a lot shorter in my opinion.

Predictable story without much of a twist. Woman reading not impressive at all. Overall, middle of the road. I’ve heard much better and much worse!

Could not get past chapter 9 as the narrator voice annoyed me - that’s not to say it will annoy everyone - that’s just my opinion

I thoroughly enjoyed the storyline and the writing. I didn’t give it 5 stars because of the narration. The reader was very uneven in the reading, rather jerky. Some words were mispronounced. Sometimes it was difficult to understand a longer sentence just because of the narrator.

I almost never give up on a book, but I only made it through 19 minutes before deciding to throw in the towel, and I’m very surprised to have made it that long.

This book is just plain stupid. The overly dramatic and cheesy narration doesn’t do it any favors, but it would still be a stupid book even if an Oscar award winning actor was reading it.

Don’t waste your time - or any IQ points - on this piece of junk.

AWESOME story, less then stellar narrator. I’m sorry but LC Kane leaves s lot to be desired, she reads all breathy like she’s trying to seduce you and it was just plain creepy. I had to finally quit a get the book, because I couldn’t handle the breathy way she talked, honestly it grated on my nerves and I hate saying that. I love audio books and I know it can’t be easy to read aloud like that but you either have it in you or you don’t and LC Kane doesn’t have it. I gave the audio 4 stars because I didn’t want to put the book down but honestly I wouldn’t give the narrator 1 star.

That being said the book itself gets 5 stars, great story, the characters a real, the science believable as well as the military type ops. I really hope that eventually she continues this series because I’d love to learn more about the secondary characters and were they end up. I just know Trey and Dani’s story isn’t through so I hope that they’ve just been healing and she picks up soon where she left off.

The narrator was not good and I had to quit when the book should have been done but still had 4 hours left.

Nothing against the book, but the narrator sounds like she is 80 and made all the characters sound OLD! The book might be better but the audiobook SUCKED. I didn’t get past first chapter.
