About this audiobook

In this follow-up to #1 New York Times bestselling author Ruth Ware’s multi-million copy mega-hit The Woman in Cabin 10, Lo Blacklock returns to attend the opening of a luxury hotel, only to find herself in a white-knuckled race across Europe.

When the invitation to attend the press opening of a luxury Swiss hotel—owned by reclusive billionaire Marcus Leidmann—arrives, it’s like the answer to a prayer. Three years after the birth of her youngest child, Lo Blacklock is ready to reestablish her journalism career, but post-pandemic travel journalism is a very different landscape from the one she left ten years ago.

The chateau on the shores of Lake Geneva is everything Lo’s ever dreamed of, and she hopes she can snag an interview with Marcus. Unfortunately, he proves to be even more difficult to pin down than his reputation suggests. When Lo gets a late-night call asking her to come to Marcus’s hotel room, she agrees despite her own misgivings. She’s greeted, however, by a woman claiming to be Marcus’s mistress, and in life-or-death jeopardy.

What follows is a thrilling pursuit across Europe, forcing Lo to ask herself just how much she’s willing to sacrifice to save this woman…and if she can even trust her?

I struggled with the melodramatic voice acting and just lost patience with the main character. I can’t tell you what happened in the last 30 minutes because I was so excited to be at the end I was looking for other books. I have really enjoyed some other books by this author but this one wasn’t a great match for me. I found the previous one (woman in cabin 10) a bit long-winded, too, but this one was worse for me.

Excellent narration as always. Nicely developed characters and overall and interesting plot - though the events linking the two main characters could’ve been elaborated on - that and the way Carrie lived for 10yrs are definite weak points.
Overall an entertaining and engaging listen with some odd plot holes that are typical for this author - but worth the trade off for the narrator.

Ruth Ware won't dissapoint. Predictable but like an Agatha Christie book very wholesome.

Aaaaand THIS is why Ruth Ware is my favorite author and Imogen Church is my favorite narrator. My goodness, all the twists and turns in this story! Excellent plot and an ending that I did not see coming… and I’ve real ALL of Ruth Ware’s books! I’m sad it’s over and I am waiting for the day she releases another!

A little too long and not entirely convincing. Also somewhat predictable.

All in all it was an entertaining book. I just find that Ruth Ware tends to be a very long-winded writer. The book probably could have been half of the length and still packed the same punch.
