Today we are sitting down with founder of Devon + Lang, Tyler McCombs. We are talking with Tyler about leaving a secure career he loved at Apple and taking the leap into entrepreneurship, how COVID flipped his business on it’s head from the start, what the behind the scenes of creating a product in the apparel industry looks like, and why he is passionate about making “life changing underwear” - and what the life changing part really means.  Tyler shares about the importance of company culture and taking great care of your people, how he took the major things he learned from his 10 years with Apple and incorporated them into Devon + Lang, how infusing passion into your work makes you stand out, and how getting his BA in Behaviour sciences helps him in business.

Tyler launched Devon + Lang 6 months before the COVID pandemic, and he shares about how the power of pivoting to serve what the community needed grew his business to 6 figures in a few months, going from filling orders from his in-laws basement to filling a warehouse and expanding into a women’s line as an add on that has now taken over the business. He walks us through HOW he set himself up for success by pairing his passion with research, education and personal development, the 4 things you need to consider when you have a business idea, and why you need to take time to celebrate your wins. We talk about the cost of entry to get into certain industries, the difference between building a business VS creating a job, how not to get trapped in your business, and how he overcame the hurdle of learning to delegate and let go of full control.
