Description

Today we are chatting with Milton Block ( aka Erika's Dad!) about conflict resolution, navigating team environments and how to connect with your children in the language they understand. Milton has 34 years of experience in the education system as a teacher, principal, teacher representative and mediator - and he drops some SERIOUS tools and tips on us. We were on the edge of our seats during this conversation, this episode is FULL of so much good stuff- get a pen and notebook ready because you are about to be hit with A LOT of wisdom and tools!
Milton gives us tools for navigating team dynamics, conflict and problem solving in the workplace, how to deal with the jerks on your team ( hint, it starts with holding up a mirror ), leaning into our individual strengths to build a solid team, why “KNOW THYSELF” is his number one tip for conflict resolution, and the power of self awareness. We talk about the things that motivate behaviour, the power of OBSERVING, the question he starts conversations with to allow for curiosity and choice, what a “PLUS 10” is - and how you can utilize it in your workplace and relationships.
Milton shares his best parenting advice, the two questions we are hardwired to come to a problem with, tips on how to talk with our children in the ways they understand, and the importance of finding out our children’s path of learning. We talk about how to deal with bullies in the language that they speak, the different types of bullying, and the importance of teaching our children to be assertive without being aggressive.
PLUS:
The role parents play in children's behaviour and the emotional moderation of children, knowing our "blind spots" and strengths, and reallocating our weaknesses in order to expand and grow, what accountability looks like and how to model and teach it to our kids, the meaning and power of asking for forgiveness, AND.... what Erika was really like as a child!
