Description

Today we are sitting down with media personality, mother, and public speaking coach Heather Morrison. Heather is also the founder of Deliver Your Best, an online public speaking program that helps people learn to overcome fears and challenges tied to public speaking - and communication in general!
We chat with Heather about HOW she overcame her fear of public speaking, and used her methods and passion for community to start a business, she shares her personal preparation techniques, her internal process and tips for everyone to feel more confident in communicating in any situation. Heather shares about the internal growth she focused on in order to overcome her fears, how she leaned into developing on skills she already had in order to jump into sports reporting without any previous knowledge, the difference between having a lack of knowledge vs a lack of self knowledge and what that looks like, how to shift your nervous energy to support you and the power of saying YES to things that scare you.

We talk about having a growth mindset vs a fixed mindset, being willing to show up as a beginner, how to set yourself up with supportive thoughts and the practice of knowing your comfort threshold - and how to support yourself to push past it. Heather shares about thought habits, what they are and how they can either support or derail us, what the steps of a thought analysis are and how to use them to shift your mindset and perspective - and the importance of being away of our thoughts.

PLUS: tips for establishing structure in hard conversations, how to navigate the energy in a room, the importance of taking care of your audience and why to focus on making a connection vs an impression.
