Description

Today we are sitting down with infertility advocate, mother, content creator and Bachelor alum Astrid Wendt. We are talking all about how Astrid met her now husband Kevin on Bachelor in Paradise, moving to Canada for love ( and the climate shock involved!), navigating trying for a baby during the pandemic, working though infertility and her IVF journey.

She walks us through their infertility journey, the process of trying to get pregnant and navigating the disappointment each month, being diagnosed with “unexplained infertility”  and how the journey impacted her and Kevin in different ways. Astrid shares about what the IVF process really looks like - the costs, hormones and medications involved, the impact it all had on her body and emotions and the time and stresses involved in IVF. She tells us what it was like going to all the appts on her own because of COVID, how they navigated playing the waiting game and how she dealt with the influx of emotions and hormones daily. We talk about the misconceptions about infertility and IVF, the hardest and most challenging parts for her, she shares great advice for navigating the IVF pregnancy journey, and we learn about the amazing work she is doing with the Fertility Friends Foundation to help alleviate the financial stress of fertility treatments for Canadian couples.

PLUS:  How she found out she was pregnant with her first child, why she had to carry containers of sperm to appointments in her bra, celebrating the little things, and the behind the scenes of Bachelor in Paradise.
