Description
Today we are sitting down with mother of two, contnet creator, and former Miss Universe Canada Siera Bearchell. We are chatting with Siera about how life changed for her after competing in Miss Universe, how she navigated the media blitz that followed her, how the learnings and experience from her pageant journey impacted her choices, values and career path as an adult and what is is REALLY like behind the scenes of the Miss Universe curtain.
Siera shared how and WHY she got into pageants, the cause near and dear to her that propelled her to take the stage, the misconceptions about the pageant world and why it is SO much more than swimsuit and evening gown competitions we see on TV. She tells us about the moment she was told she didn’t have “the Miss Universe Body”, how being forced to lose weight resulted in her losing her confidence and why she dumped her team before the competition and did things her own way. We really dig into the topic of confidence - why it is important to feel solid in who you are, how truly knowing yourself directly correlates with confidence, the growth that happens when you lean in to the uncomfortable and the power of being comfortable with not knowing the answer.
She talks about embracing the platform she was unintentionally given, how she leaned in to social media to continue conversations about body positivity, why she puts out content on socials that she wants to consume, the pressures to be “relatable” and how she deals with hate from social media trolls. Siera shares about parenting in the public eye, how she navigates sharing her family on socials, the importance of setting boundaries and how she leans into her personal bullshit meter.
PLUS:
The pressures put on women to stay youthful as we age, watching your life through your eyes and not through your phone, why working on yourself will always get you ahead, and why kindness always wins.
