The statistics show that 57% of adults' diets come from ultra-processed foods, and 67% of children’s daily calories come from empty calories. To identify ultra-processed foods, they are typically wrapped in plastic and contain at least one ingredient you don’t usually find in a kitchen, like emulsifiers and additives. Although there are some benefits to ultra-processed foods, such as being less expensive and more economically accessible, it’s essential to weigh the options to make the right choice for you.
