Description

On today's episode, Jess and Cody invited special guest Chelsie from @heytherechelsie to talk about how she has proven that it's still possible to live a vibrant and full life even after cancer. Chelsie is a strong, and powerful woman and is also a childhood cancer survivor. She has been cancer free for fourteen years. She shares that although she has survived cancer, there have been many other personal struggles that she has had to face because of the effects of her cancer treatments. Currently she and her husband are dealing with infertility caused by her cancer treatments. Listen in and be inspired by Chelsie's positive outlook on her life, and how she chooses to focus on the strength she has gained through these struggles. She focuses on how grateful, grateful, grateful she is for her beautiful second-chance-life, and the opportunity she has to live it.September is Childhood Cancer Awareness month, and though it's good to be aware, it's also important to remember that childhood cancer is an everyday reality for thousands of families. Every day, 250 children around the world die from cancer. Childhood cancer is consistently underfunded at the government level, so there is a great need for private fund-raising to help support better research and treatments for children fighting cancer. Because of private fundraising, there have been many improvements in how childhood cancer is being treated through more targeted and precise therapies. Long term survival rates are continuing to increase, but unfortunately not fast enough to save the thousands of children. Chelsie encourages us to support the organization VeloSano, which is a year-round fundraising initiative in which 100% of every dollar raised supports lifesaving cancer research at Cleveland Clinic. If you are inspired by Chelsie's story and would like to help, here's a link to donate. We can make a big difference when we all help a little.https://give.ccf.org/give/t308924/#!/donation/checkoutDid you learn something new today? Please let us know!
