    I saw her at a museum, a woman that I at first thought was impossible. She was wearing a grey sweater and some blue jeans and staring at a painting by herself. I was there with a friend who had studied art in college, but we had wandered off in separate directions. When I first saw the woman standing in front of that painting, I thought it had to be some kind of illusion.

    I couldn’t remember when I’d ever seen anybody so tall. Not just a woman that tall, but anybody so tall. I thought there had to be something about where that painting was hung, like a kind of forced prospective kind of thing, but as I got closer to her, she didn’t look any smaller. If anything, she looked bigger.
