Men will often ask me how I met my wife, and I always understand the implication. They want to know where they can meet a woman like her. It is fantastical even to believe that other women like my wife even exist. I had certainly never met a woman like her before, or one like her since. Yet, I imagine for other men hope springs eternal. It is perhaps almost impossible to imagine that a guy like me could be so lucky.

I met my wife, predictably, at the gym. I always liked to go to the gym very early on weekends, because I liked to be alone. I was always there at 5 am, Saturday, and usually I was done with my workout before anybody else showed up to disrupt my solitude. I liked it that way, and it seemed as if nobody else wanted to start their workout so early in the day on a weekend, so I couldn’t imagine my routine being shaken up.
