CHAPTER THREE

I dreamed of the day that Candace would hit seven feet. There was just something special about that number for me, and I knew she thought so too. There were many people who were over six feet tall, as rare as it was, but seven feet put a person in a class that was truly astounding.

I just can’t wait to say it, Candace mused. Seven feet tall just sounds like a dream.

It wouldn’t take long for her to get there at the rate she was growing. We would only have to wait until the end of the summer, which meant that she was growing roughly an inch a week. How anybody could grow so fast was a mystery to everybody, including her doctor who was more than a little concerned.

What did you tell him? I asked.

I told him to do whatever tests he thought he needed to, Candace said with a grin. I love watching him look up at me now. It is funny to see the little man try to understand why I now tower over him. I’m just having a good time.

Her good time continued as she moved upward, growing taller and taller. It was the end of August, and the school year was about to start in a couple weeks. We decided to do another measuring session, and that was when we saw that our dream had come true. I practically gasped when I saw the measurement.
