    CHAPTER ONE

    John went to an interview for an assistant job in which the salary and benefits seemed too good to be true. The recent college graduate had been having a hard time finding work and was still living with his parents. He had started looking for a job that could just get him by while he looked for something better, but the salary for this job was over seventy thousand a year, and all he would be doing is working as an assistant.

    He was suspicious of the job at first, but then he learned that the person who would be interviewing him was Helen Dutch, the wife of the billionaire Roland Dutch. She was somewhat secretive about the position itself in that first interview, but how much it got paid suddenly made sense, and John was willing to put up with the secrecy for a bit.

    He got called back for a second interview. In this one, there was more revealed about the job. You’ll be the personal assistant to my daughter, Helen told him. She had some problems doing things that normal people take for granted.

    This is where things made more sense. He looked up on the internet that the couple had a daughter that had not been seen in public since she was twelve. She would be twenty years old now, and somehow, they had kept her away from the public, and nobody knew exactly what her disability was.
