    Introduction

    Many people experience anxiety and panic. Some types of anxiety are healthy, but if the feeling begins to invade your daily life, you may have an anxiety disorder.

    Anxiety disorder can manifest as feelings of worry, nervousness and panic. Anxiety must be distinguished from fear, the latter being an instant reaction to a perceived threat. It is perfectly normal to feel anxious once in a while. Sometimes a little anxiety can even be beneficial and help people with certain tasks. When anxiety and panic start to take over your daily life, you may have an anxiety disorder. Talking with someone about anxiety is the best way to understand and control the problem.

    What are anxiety disorders?

    Some level of anxiety can be beneficial, but your daily life should not be disrupted or limited by it. The most common anxiety disorders are:

    Social anxiety disorder: excessive and persistent fear that prompts you to avoid social situations;

    Panic disorder: unexpected and frequent panic attacks;

    Specific phobia: an intense and unreasonable fear of a particular thing;

    Separation anxiety: an irrational fear of being separated from parents or guardians;

    Generalized anxiety disorder: excessive and uncontrollable worrying about upcoming events or everyday things;

    Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD): Constant, uncontrollable thoughts that can lead to certain behaviors.

    If you are not sure what you are feeling is an anxiety disorder, you should talk to a doctor who can look at your symptoms and make a diagnosis.

    What are the signs of an anxiety disorder?

    Someone with an anxiety disorder may:

    Be constantly worried;

    Feel the desire to be perfect;

    Feel the fear of making mistakes;

    Have an obsessive fear of death;

    Experience repeated crying attacks;

    Have nightmares;

    Block or freeze when something stressful happens;

    Feel the constant fear that something terrible is going to happen to a loved one;

    Worry that you have lost touch with reality;

    Feeling like you are losing control of your thoughts, feelings, body, etc .;

    Avoid his friends;

    Be terrified of speaking in class.

    Ways to Deal with Your Anxiety Right Now

    If you are feeling anxious right now, follow the steps below:

    1. Breathe:

    Focusing on your breathing might calm you down. Here are some exercises:

    Exercise # 1: Lie on your stomach with your head turned to the side. When we are lying on our stomach, our breathing naturally deepens. Hold this position for 10 minutes.

    Exercise # 2: Lie on your back or stand with your feet apart. Place your hand on your stomach. Imagine there is a balloon inside your body. When you inhale, the balloon fills up; and when you breathe out, it shrinks. Fill the balloon while inhaling, and empty it while exhaling. Repeat this exercise for 5 minutes.
