INTRODUCTION
Hello, I’m Warren Honeycutt. This story is not about me. It is about someone much more important: YOU! I have been immersed in fitness and health for over 40 years. I opened my first gym at the age of 20, and I have had the privilege of working with many exceptional people over the decades. Throughout the years I have observed that most folks can lose some weight, but then BAM! They just gained it straight back. Many put on more weight than they had lost. This was devastating to so many folks.
There were some, however, who succeeded. They lost the weight, and they stayed lean. These people started out just the same as those who failed. They all needed to lose weight, and improve their fitness. Yet, I saw that only about one in ten made it. Just 10%!
So, I asked the question: "Why? Why do 10% of dieters lose their unwanted pounds and keep them off?" I wanted to know what these people had done differently. What was their secret? Were they doing the same things? Was there a right way, a smart way, to diet?
Over decades of study, research, observation of those successful dieters, I began to understand that there were several keys to this puzzle. Gradually I learned what the secret techniques were. Most importantly, I discovered how to help people (especially ladies!) diet with a high rate of success. And I have some GREAT news, no matter how many times you may have attempted to lose weight and keep it off before, I promise you this: if you follow the path that the 10% followed, you can be among them! And THAT is what this discussion is all about!

My sincere hope for you is that as you grasp the principles which are set out here, you begin to realize rewards that are far beyond that of being lean and trim. These principles and ideas will certainly give you that. But they will also give you the keys to unlock the doors to a better you...from the inside out.
You’ll find tools to set any goal and then chart a plan, a roadmap if you will, to its achievement. These keys will take you from where you are and transform you into being the person that, until this moment, you may have felt it was impossible to become. These Seven Keys are timeless, ever-present truths. Once mastered, they will give you anything you desire in life! They will take you from any valley to a mountaintop view. They will literally sweep you to a leaner you, a healthier you, a person that feels alive with a life of purpose. A person that you are proud of, not in an egotistical, haughty way but rather a way that allows you to accept and love the most beautiful, unique person in the entire world.. .YOU!
As I write this, it is with the full realization that you may be a bit skeptical. I understand. You need some proof first! You’ll see in the next chapter clear proof of how people have changed their lives using my principles. My goal is to give you this information in clear, easily understood points. You’ll know that they can transition you into the successful 10% that make a lasting lifestyle change.
I call these principles the ‘7 Keys to Success’.
CHAPTER 1
Proof it Works
STACEY’S STORY
Hello, my name is Stacey and my story is not unlike so many other women, except for the ending, and there it takes a very happy turn versus the merry-go-round that I was on for a long time. Pretty much my entire adult life I struggled with my weight. I had tried everything from Weight Watchers to the Adkins Diet to Nutrisystem. And with every program the results were the same, I would lose weight but always gain it back. My weight ballooned up to 207 pounds by the time I reached my 34 th birthday. I was more than frustrated. I really didn’t know what to do or where to turn. I began to look back to my childhood and teen years and realized that I didn’t begin gaining weight until my 20’s. I was active as a child and during my high school years I was involved in cheerleading, maybe being more active would help.
In the spring of 2007 I joined a local gym, and like most women didn’t have a clue as to which activity or routine would help me lose weight and keep it off. Like so many women that join a gym or exercise class, I really didn’t know anything about proper technique or which exercises and machines would put me on track to help me achieve my goal of getting back to my high school weight of 120 pounds. Remember, at this point, this was a huge step. I would have to lose close to 90 pounds! So for about 2 months I really struggled. I decided to watch some of the other women try and try to copy what I saw them doing. I even tried getting with a personal trainer at the gym but quickly realized that she knew as little as I did. So I got into the habit of getting on the treadmill and walking for 30 minutes because I had read that this would help burn calories. I hated the boredom of walking and not going anywhere and what was worse after a month or so of this my weight was not going anywhere either. I was still over 200 pounds!
I was about to give up on my dream of ever being trim again. Then one night in the dressing room I was sharing my frustration with one of my girlfriends I had met while going through my boredom on the treadmill. She told me about one of the guys that trained at the same gym where we were members. She said this guy was totally about making lifestyle changes, that he taught folks to change their minds and their body would follow. I guess I smirked a little when she said this because it sounded a bit farfetched, but she went on about how this guy was in his 50’s but had the body of a 20-year-old. I asked her if the guy she was talking about was the same one that the gym had a picture of on their wall. It was a picture of him from a recent Mr. America Show and I had seen this guy at the gym and was always amazed at not only how he looked, but that he would only spend about 30 minutes in the gym and was gone! She smiled and said Yep, that’s him. You need to ask him if he could give you some pointers.
I told her I would think about it because, frankly, I was intimidated about asking someone like that for help, but I knew from just seeing him that he had to know what he was talking about. The next Tuesday evening (I had made a habit of doing my treadmill thing every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday) I caught him after he and his wife were wrapping up their 30-minute session. I asked him if I could take a little of his time. Looking back I must have said something or maybe it was just the desperate look in my eyes, but regardless, he said he would help me. His name is Warren Honeycutt and that conversation was a major turning point for me achieving my weight loss goal. More importantly, it was a turning point in my life on several levels. Warren asked me about things nobody had ever asked me before, such as, when I began gaining weight and if there had been any major changes just before the weight gain happened. Ironically I had lost a baby when I was 22 and shortly after this I began to pack on the pounds.
He asked me which foods I loved and then he asked me why I loved them. He asked me how I felt about myself as a person and helped me see that I was unique. Just like my friend had said, he talked about mental keys that I could use and once I understood these concepts the weight loss would take care of itself.
He did put me on a program for nutrition and activity and to my surprise, I began to lose weight every week. Amazingly I was NEVER hungry! I do admit it took a few weeks to get my mind around some of the keys but once I had gone through the steps that he outlined, I was on my way. The pounds finally began to come off!
After I lost about 40 pounds Warren asked me if I had ever considered doing a figure show. I told him I could never do that but the truth was, in the back of my mind, I had dreamed about having the kind of body that I could be proud of to the point that I could do a figure show. Not Miss America or anything like that. Just something local where I could feel good enough about myself that I would be proud to put on a bikini. Remember, I was a lady that just a few months ago was 207 pounds and still weighed around 170 pounds and was only 5’ 4" tall.
