“It’s only taken 38 years to realise what I need to do to look after myself,” Suzanne Shaw tells HELLO!, two years after embracing sobriety. “I’m the happiest I’ve been in one of the most uncertain times in my life.”

The singer and actress gave up alcohol at the beginning of 2020 – only to see her work vanish as the pandemic hit the entertainment world. “The industry was decimated,” she says. “My work had just gone, we had nothing.”

However, she was determined to change her life, having struggled with her mental health for two decades, and began documenting her efforts on social media, sharing her ups and downs with fans and followers.
