Preface
I want to share my secret with you on losing weight. I want to help you win the battle. Following this program will help you shed pounds just as I did. Need evidence, look at my before and after pictures. Good luck to you.
A startling study in mid 2007, while writing this book, revealed that obesity is contagious. That is right. The study by Alicia Chang, funded by the U.S. National Institute on Aging, and published in the New England Journal of Medicine was summarized as follows: If your friends and family get fat, chances are you will too, researchers report in a startling new study that suggests obesity is
socially contagious and can spread easily from person to person
.
The chances of you becoming obese rise to 57 percent if your friend is obese, 40 percent if your sibling becomes overweight and 37 percent if your spouse becomes obese.
The study suggests that obesity in North America, where two thirds of the population falls within the obese category, is not genetic based but rather socially based.
You’re fat now it’s time to lose it will help you lose weight. If you lose it, most likely those around you will also, if the study is correct.
Let us start on a better road to health. The study pointed out that obesity claims 300,000 lives a year, second only to smoking. The study suggests, as pointed out in later chapters, food is an addiction similar to smoking.
