Still in Transition - Crystal Williams
Light
I am born a Queen…
We have forgotten who we are, lost our identity which must be redeemed
Because we were born into royalty and should have blossomed into Queens
But instead we have become maiden in distress waiting for out knight in shining amour
Which has left us bitter and best friends with
Karma
Insecure, we have allowed false imagery to leave us suppressed
We have allowed media and ours bodies to make us obsessed
We are now seen as sexual instruments that are objectified
Our worst critics rip us apart leaving us feeling crucified
OMG that bum, her bust, her nose… that face
What if I take in just a few inches on my waist?
Has left us visiting the Dr wondering what next we will replace
Leaving us all with such bitter tastes…
But no matter what is said …you are a Queen, beautiful in your ways
Compassionate, caring, loyal with such elegance and grace
I wish we could love ourselves more and start to embrace
What we see in the mirror and that beautiful face
I wish we could accept our graceful stature of perfect imperfection
And feel liberated within ourselves even with man’s rejection
We have Queens raising Kings and other Queens in the making
We have Queens with history and testimonies that are breath taking
Even if no one else sees your worth… see it for yourself
For a Queens beauty in within, and that is where lays your wealth
HMM…
Don’t you ever wonder why things don’t go how you would like?
Why little arguments end up in fight.
How you present yourself, is how people will take you to be!
Whatever you push in front that’s what people will see.
Just like looking in the mirror, you see what is reflected.
Your outer look…but your personality never seems to be detected…
Mistaken identity and everyone’s affected;
Because people always prejudice yet never stand corrected!
Talk about you before they have even made contact with their eyes.
After a few conversations, they got it wrong they suddenly realize.
People are behind you when you are high but disappear once you hit the ground!
In fact they trample on you harder and push you even further down…
Now Adays
Now adays there are a lot of black on black crimes
Wanting to build a status we have crossed the line.
Taking the life of another which they did not create
Paranoid. Watching their back. Too stubborn to change… now its too late!
Men sowing their seeds everywhere they go
Sweet talking girls and going with the ‘so-called’ flow
And ladies opening up their legs so fast
And later wonder why the relationship did not last.
A lot of men not taking care of their responsibilities
Yet trying to build and handle other facilities
People always complaining that they are not getting anywhere
Yet simple labor they struggle with, Hard work they cant bare
Refusing to move any further, stagment, scared of failure and bound by fear
So they end up with nothing; pockets dry and bare
People bragging that they have come out from behind bars
Fronting like they enjoyed being locked up and posing like Stars
But they remain silent about the bullying, picking up of soap and mental scars
Trying to cover it up with violence, women, money and new cars
If only someone would speak up and let them know the truth
Then perhaps in unity we can educate our youths
The Word Love
Love is a word I so often hear.
Which leaves people hurt rolling in tears.
Some people describe it the way you show you care.
Some people are scared of love and hide away in fear.
That last line sounds a lot like me.
So I try not to get involved and hide behind responsibility…
Because I am scared of falling into Love’s hole…I might not get out in a hurry.
I may get trapped, helpless, letting people off just because they say sorry!
I would be labeled, given a ‘she is naive’ collar.
Instead of showing me love they try to buy me; showing me the Dollars.
Therefore being in a world full of unfulfilled promises. Dreamland.
I have no choice but to trust no one except the LORDS trusting hand.
To Our Kings
This is specifically written for the Kings amongst us
Who help build our women and to whom our sons and daughters we entrust
To the Kings that teach us what it means to Love and not to Lust
To the Kings who help rebuild our broken homes and rebuild our trust
To the Kings who are themselves going through internal battles that us women may never truly understand
To our Kings who feel the continuous pressures of having to be a man
To the Kings who have dreams that they work so hard to see materialize
To our Kings we love, respect, appreciate and esteem you very High
We apologise for the words we say that cut deep
The truth is… we admire you even in our sleep!
We understand that you may not express your emotions exactly as we do
But as Queens we want you to know that we are still here for you.
We understand your logical approach to things and the thinking that takes place within
Our King it is just that we desire to be your everything
And although we get emotional at times… we will try harder to change
Because we see the fragility of your heart hidden behind your Masculine frames
ADDICTED
I don’t want to be addicted anymore but it seems as if it is out of my control.
My body is crying out for it but my soul is saying ‘NO’.
I spend hours upon hours battling in my mind, trying to resist,
But the feeling does not leave it continues to persist.
Sooner or later I find myself giving in.
Lost in my own world falling deeper into sin.
I know that if I continue like this I am destined to an early death
And at any moment I could easily be taking my last breath…
I don’t know why it is so hard! Every time I think I am making it then suddenly I fall
One minute I am free, the next, back to it I crawl.
If I knew this was how it would end, I never would had started
If I knew I was in the light before, I would have never have stepped into darkness.
I was once strong but now find myself being controlled by something I used to control
