I chose to write this book because I have been writing poetry since the fourth grade. I remember my teacher tacking up one of my poems on the wall. This was a moment of self-recognition I will never forget. I have been writing ever since that moment occurred. It’s a memory I have little of, but it sparked the ignition to further what I loved! Poetry is how I define who I am. It is my purpose. I was raised in the Bronx but born outside its borders in Mount Vernon Hospital. When I’m not writing, attending college, or relaxing, I try to turn some of my attention to my wonderful hamsters! I am an animal lover.
