About this ebook
Dedrick D.L. Pitter
Dedrick always displayed a love for literature as a child. As a young boy, he was always interested in books and educational television. He flourished in school, always showing promise as a student and potential ‘contributing citizen.’ However, during high school, Dedrick ended up dropping out, as his grades dropped and his interest dwindled due to drug use and toxic influences. To many, this landed a large blow to his future – but Dedrick didn't let that stop him. He went on to pursue his G.E.D., which he scored high enough to earn a legitimate Diploma with Honors. With that, he was able to secure a college scholarship. Currently, he is focused on music and prose – his two passions in life. Dedrick continues to make strides, knowing that his life and story can provide motivation and hope for others to pursue their own dreams.

Depth Perception - Dedrick D.L. Pitter
PROLOGUE
This collection of poetry contains poems which were written five years ago, as well as those written in recent times. It is an extended look into my innermost thoughts, where I was then, and where I am now; hence the title of the book - Depth Perception
. I am essentially taking you on a journey through my mind, as together we uncover my thoughts and feelings over this five year period.
LOVE IS
Love is a strong word, and a stronger emotion.
Love can be tougher than steel, or smoother than lotion.
Love is pure, love is kind, love is always on my mind.
From my mind, to my heart. I’m always striving to impart,
Words of love, full of life, prick the heart just like a knife,
Not to stab, but to touch. When you’re weak I’ll be the crutch,
To hold you up, and steer you straight. Holding up your extra weight…
Out of love, I feel compelled, encased in love, my soul is shelled,
I want to help all that I can, if just to lend that helping hand.
Because I care, because I love, I am that symbolic peace-bringing dove.
I want to see the world at rest, so we’d move forward with our best,
foot in front, and taking strides, love each other with brimming pride.
Christ the groom, we’re the bride, love gets us on the winning side.
Love is such a peaceful thing, just look at all the joy it brings…
It brings you family, and also friends, it sticks right by you till the end.
Love is always calm and collected, won’t freak out even if you expect it…
Because that’s what love was made to do, we just have to put on the shoe,
Begin to walk a mile a time, ’til we’d walk a hundred on a dime.
Love can grow, and so can we. Love is further than we can see.
So if you cannot see it, fine. Just know that there’s scenes behind.
Working hard with no remorse. Just to see you stay the course.
Love is strong, yet love’s a word. Love is loud, but yet unheard.
Love is happy, love is joy… Love is more than brand new toys…
Love is listening when no one hears, Love is there when no one cares.
Love is beauty, love is life. Love takes away the pain and strife…
Love is pure, love is kind. Love is always on my mind
WHAT’S EXPECTED OF
THE FUTURE?
If we don’t look upon the past,
Then what’s expected of the future?
Times gone by, long times, no new stuff.
Do stuff, make things happen.
Why are we content with just listening, then clapping?
Chained up, change up. Things rearranged up.
The earth is the Lord’s but we’re afraid of the danger.
Greater works now, should be a scripture alive.
But nobody reads the Bible, so how can we try?
I’m here to help you realize,
That a bunch of fake truth, is just a bunch of real LIES.
So you do the math,
And when you find the answer, what more can you ask?
Generational acts, no mistaking the facts.
The end time is now, no taking it back.
So bring them in,
The tall ones, the small ones.
The no house at all ones.
These are the called ones.
Glance at the past, gaze at the future.
Clean up the wounds then ask for the sutures.
Colonize the world with the Kingdom’s culture.
Don’t wait around the corpses like vultures.
God has blessings stored up to suit ya…
But with no knowledge of the past…
Then what’s expected of the future
