Hurt by the Sun - D.W. Alexander
sunburnt
Hi..
um..
hello.
I…
meant to say this, before
we shot icicles as arrows
from Cupid’s quiver that froze
but..
I was on the moon then, baby
and honestly,
I can’t imagine life with—
—The person you are trying to reach is unavaila—
it felt good, at first
the way your soft rays kissed my skin
your warmth slowly traveling
across the lines atop my skeleton
but then you began to burn
consuming flesh
until i was nothing
but crumbling dried bone
so here i am,
ashes in a bottle
addicted to your sunburn
hoping that maybe tomorrow
you will rise across the horizon
and find me
once again
Bottle in Seait seems perfect now
the morning sun
kissing our cheeks,
but at some point
light will sneak past horizon lines
leaving both of us behind
with nothing
but sheets soaked in memories
incompatible.
