On Lost Love and Sanity - Reah Lee

This book is dedicated to you, dear reader.

The following is a personal account of love and heartbreak: a collection of poems written on loss. It was essential for me to write these pieces and exciting to put them together. I hope you experience as much catharsis in reading as I did in writing. These poems are presented in the order of which they were experienced, spanning the course of 13 years.

To all the hopeless romantics, the poets, the lovers, the crazies, the feelers, and the muses: I see you.

May you feel less alone. May you feel valid.

    May you feel accepted.

    Love,

    Reah

    SPECIAL THANKS to HOLLY PERSAUD

You are the best and I love you.

    THE WINTER TREE

    And all this time,

I thought I was a winter tree waiting for my leaves to grow.

    But now I'm somehow thinking,

I'm not the type that would have ever let them go.

    CHAPTER B

    THE JOURNEY

We played a hard game, harder off of the court.

I thought we were strong, 'til our love got divorced.

My necklace from you said that love was a journey, guess we fell off the path,

    but perhaps we're still learning

that things have to change and the world won't stop turning.

The water is flowing, the fires are burning. The time isn't stopping, and seasons are turning

    the same
