Chapter One

Life returned to a semblance of normal when we returned from Vegas. At first, I thought that our trip had been the cathartic experience that Bella needed to get past my stupid mistake of being unfaithful to her.

About a week after we returned, I was even allowed back into our marital bed, and made love to my wife for the first time in months. But for me that experience was most unsatisfying. While in Vegas, my wife had met a mysterious stranger at a roulette table. He had turned out to be a wealthy Greek man named Stavros, who had made the mistake of thinking that Bella was one of the hookers that hung around the tables being played by the whales, or high rollers.

He had propositioned her, offering to pay for her services. Seeking to get revenge for my infidelity, she had accepted and bluntly informed me that she was accompanying Stavros to his room. They had worked out a price for both a single hour, and for the entire night. As that long night wore on, it became clear that Stavros had opted for the entire night option. Bella practically crawled back to our room early the next morning.

Rising early that afternoon, I was then informed that Stavros had asked to see her again that evening and that she had accepted. But it was a dinner invitation for both of us, which puzzled me.
