About this ebook

Marcus, an African-American freelance journalist, finds himself emotionally torn on a flight from Los Angeles to Denver, Colorado on Christmas Eve to visit his former lover, Alana. He clutches the invitation she sent him as he sits in the first class seat that she paid for, and his heart is in turmoil.

The last time they saw each other was five years ago when they shared a weekend of passion together only for Marcus to receive an invitation to her wedding to another man a month later. Now, he finds himself locked between anger and anticipation about seeing her again and wondering why she would want to after all these years.

Once Marcus’ flight lands in Denver, a private pilot leads him to a jet for a short flight from Denver to Telluride and once he gets inside Marcus finds Alana there waiting for him. It’s not long before their desire for each other reignites and Marcus discovers Alana’s two-fold purpose for inviting him to spend Christmas Eve with her. One, is apologize for the was she left things between them five years ago and second, for Marcus to help her teacher her husband a hard lesson about infidelity.

Will Marcus make it through this trip emotionally unscathed or can he find a way to let Alana go so he can move forward with his life?

You see, the thing about sex is this... Almost everybody wants to have it. Straight people, transgender people, pansexuals, lesbians, bisexuals, gays... If you can think of a group of people, I can guarantee you they want it, they need it, and they are somehow in search of it. Even asexual people enjoy not having to deal with the need to have sex. It’s those moments of build up that leads people to the point of physical expression that I write about. The tense moments, the funny ones, the passionate, angry, and the unconventional ones are my favorites. My best personal sexual experiences have come from the most interesting and unexpected people and situations. That’s what I do. I write about Sensual Characters who have Limitless Diversity in what they do, who they do, and even sometimes how many people they do it with. Being a writer of color is the lens that I look at the world through and it influences what I put on the page. My stories are kinky, perverted, queer, colorful, vanilla, polyamorous, sometimes romantic, and always erotic. So, enjoy yourself as I share with you what makes me Kendel Davi. Thanks for stopping by.

In the two years since I first published this short story, I 've learned a great deal about my writing as well as myself.

There have been several people who shared their knowledge and/or friendship with me which gave me the confidence to tackle this story again and make it the best possible story it could be.

Thank you Nichelle Gregory, Delena Silverfox, Gina Kincade, Julez S. Morbius, and Rachel Kramer Bussel for helping me discover the seeds I needed to plant in order to become a better writer.

    Chapter One

Marcus’ long ebony fingers caressed the details of the elegant design of the Christmas card. The leather of his first class seat squeaked as he adjusted his position. Five years ago this request would’ve been met with excitement. Now, all he could think about was why he had accepted her invitation in the first place.

It wasn’t the all expenses paid round trip ticket that tempted him as much as it was the thought of seeing her again. He opened the card and read the last few lines of her hand written note.

I know we left a lot of things unsaid but I hope I can make up for that during your trip. Can’t wait to see you again. It’s been too long. Love Alana.

He traced his pinky along her signature.

To say things were left unsaid was an understatement. Things between them had been abandoned and dismissed with a letter folded in the bend of her wedding invitation that he received only a month after they had last been together. That was five years ago and now Marcus fidgeted in his seat, on a flight that she paid for, with his emotions flashing between anger and excitement.

Would you like another drink, Mr. Cobalt?

Marcus looked up at the infectious smile of the flight attendant.

Is it too early for a rum and coke, Dawn?

It’s never too early. I’ll be right back.

Marcus couldn’t help but gaze at Dawn’s shapely legs as she disappeared into the galley. With the cabin basically empty, he could stare all he wanted. Marcus turned on the charm the instant he spotted Dawn's rich caramel skin, hazel eyes, and heavy breasts that fought to stay contained in her uniform but his mind was too preoccupied to make a serious move. Still, Dawn's smile broke through the cloud of doubt that hung over him just long enough for Marcus to forget about Alana and enjoy Dawn’s presence for a moment.

    Here you go.

Dawn leaned over and handed him the drink. Marcus' eyes traced down her neck to her cleavage. She placed her hands on the edge of the tray and bent her knees as if she were trying to give him a better look.

Will this be your first time in Denver?

It’s been a while. Are you from there?

No, she sweetly responded. "I’m an LA girl to the core. Can’t beat the weather but it’s nice to see snow for Christmas, even if it’s only for a
