About this audiobook

”Forbidden romance at its sexiest!” - DANIELLE L. JENSEN, author of The Bridge Kingdom It was supposed to be a quick mission. The only thing quick about it was how rapidly I failed. With only a month left to earn her missing feathers, twenty-year-old Leigh embarks on a trip to Paris to meet her newest project, twenty-five-year-old Jarod Adler, leader of the Parisian Mafia and the worst kind of sinner . . . a Triple. If Leigh can get Jarod to accomplish a single act of kindness, she stands to win 100 feathers, more than enough to complete her wings and ascend to Elysium, the land of angels. What she doesn’t count on is Jarod's dark charm costing her feathers. She’s dead set on saving him, and he’s dead set on destroying her. Until he realizes destroying her wings is also destroying her heart. A heart he longs to hear beat only for him. Fans of dark supernatural romance will devour this modern ROMEO & JULIET retelling today. *Warning: FEATHER deals with dark topics, such as suicide, and contains graphic sex.

I am spoiling this because the ending PISSED ME OFF SO MUCH. 15 plus hours of listening to this for the protagonist...who is ONLY 20 years old....to DIE BY SUICIDE?!?! Because her lover was dead?! What the ACTUAL FUCK.

This series is a super fun, sweet series, except when it isn’t lol. Olivia will rip your heart and soul out of your body, but thankfully she will also put it make together. I love that this went from a planned standalone to a trilogy completing the story of that world. It was a real rollercoaster and I just loved it so much. I was also able to list to these on Hoopla with my local library card which meant I was able to finish them so much faster. I loved the full circle plot of the book. In the end just felt so wholesome and good. Especially after reading a few dark fantasy romances, this was PERFECT.

Most of the book I felt frustrated with the naivety and innocence of Feather, I struggled a bit with the romance aspect of the book.
But it ended up like a Gift of the Magi retelling with Angels. So I can appreciate it and I'll continue the series for sure. Looking forward to the next book in the series.

A lose Romeo and Juliet retelling.

Leigh has to get 81 more feathers in the next month to complete her wings. To do this she takes on a Triple who ends up being Jarod. Someone who is the complete opposite and will be a challenge to redeem.

Leigh struggles with Jarod's background and the cruel world that he lives in but this is all a disguise. Everything he does is has good intentions but deliberately masked with badness. Leigh starts to realise this as their relationship blossoms and Jarod has his own hidden reasons for doing what he does. He also knows exactly what Leigh is.

Their romance is a bit slow-going and long-winded but when Leigh gets thrown into the mission the story starts to pick up. Jarod is trying to portray this bad man's demeanour but it doesn't come across as powerful as I would have liked. It needed a bit more oomph. Leigh needed a bit of a back bone but she does develop more of one as the story goes on. She becomes less of the angel she's supposed to be.

There's a slight love triangle but not much of one but that could have been because of the lack of tension and build-up between the characters. I've heard the series gets better and better with some cry-worthy moments so that is what I'm holding out for.

The writing and narration are not bad, but the story is so depressing! And so pointless.. it's ridiculous
