Their union is his revenge.

Isolde de Lara considers her wedding day to be her death day. To end a years-long war, she is to marry vampire king Adrian Aleksandr Vasiliev, and kill him.

But her assassination attempt is thwarted, and Adrian threatens that if Isolde tries to kill him again, he will raise her as the undead. Faced with the possibility of becoming the thing she hates most, Isolde seeks other ways to defy him and survive the brutal vampire court.

Except it isn't the court she fears most-it's Adrian. Despite their undeniable chemistry, she wonders why the king-fierce, savage, merciless-chose her as consort.

The answer will shatter her world.

Great story, but it's not so great narration. Hopefully it gets better.

    Great start to series
(? Not sure if it’s series or a trilogy).
I haven’t indulged in a lot of vampire fantasy books although I’m a huge fan of vampire tv series and fantasy books as a whole.
I was captivated from the beginning and I loved the air of mystery surrounding Adrian and Isolde. A fast paced and steamy adult fantasy with action and drama. of drama. Isolde is a strong female protagonist and Adrian is all kinds of fierce and hot- he’s protective and commanding but has deep respect for Isolde.
These two were made for each other in every way- so many beautiful quotes I need to look up when I get a physical copy.
I’m looking forward to the next book.
The female narrator is brilliant- I think it will take some time to get used the male narrator.

I really liked it. It reminded me of a book called Love In the time of Dragons because of the reincarnation theme. I couldn't stop listening. Finished in less than 2 days. My only criticism are the use of some modern words i what I assume was meant to be like a historical setting

Scarlet does it again ! I really enjoyed this book so much. I love the world she builds, and it just has all my favorite things. There’s just enough spice without losing the plot. And I especially loved at the end. How we got Adrian‘s point of view. Fingers crossed for a book. I really enjoyed that even with the Persephone’s and Hades story ♥️

Honestly it was fun, not the type of story you can immerse yourself in it, but it has enough charm. I found a lot of it funny, not that it was intentional, but still counts for me.

The internal struggle for the main character lasted way too long. So much more of the story could have been written and been better for it. This story had so much potential but missed the mark.

The writing is very tell not show and I find it quite hard to listen to, also the main character is kinda a try hard so I won’t be finishing it

It sounds awesome - a vampire lord and a strong female lead. However, I would have to admit that this plot is now a bit cliche. I still enjoyed it but I'm looking for something that would set it apart from the others with the same premise. I will still read the next book, hoping that it will get better.

I needed to get out of a reading slump so this helped however, it was not the best writing and the smut was splattered everywhere for what felt like the sake of smut. I would have loved to learn more about the world, the vampire capabilities over alot of the smut. Also, Isolde was an naive annoying FMC. She was immature, unreasonable, stubborn and in major ways, an idiot. It was so frustrating reading this book.

This book had me addicted right up until the last chapter. Then it went to garbage. I felt like this book had an excellent pace up until the end when the author rushed everything and left the ending just hanging. Lilly Drake is an excellent narrator though!

A book spending hours telling the tale of an ignorant self important woman full of blind hatred who constantly chooses to ignore the evidence of truth right in front of her face continually searching for reasons to reinforce her ignorant prejudice.

A book that shamefully reflects so many people today.

The main character was so stupid. All of these weird things are happening to her and she’s just like “huh, not gonna worry about that, just gonna go hate f*ck my husband. She suffered from the “she’s a warrior until she it’s not convenient to the plot.”
