First of all, there is no judgment?‍↔️

The book is something like Beauty and the Beast but in a much darker way.... it's where a girl is offered to the beast as an offering so that the village would be safe....
It's also where the beat falls first, and I'd say they both gradually fell harder... the characters were very well described, showcasing their personalities. (The Beast was such a sweetheart)
Overall, it was a good read...

I went into this sceptical—monster romances haven't really hit the mark for me before—but A Soul to Keep definitely changed my mind.

Orpheus genuinely surprised me. He starts off pretty indifferent toward Reia, and I expected the usual cold, broody dynamic. But as the story progresses, he turns into a total cinnamon roll for Reia. The way he grows quietly obsessed with protecting her was unexpectedly sweet. That said, Reia is not the kind of woman who lets someone else call the shots. She’s fiercely independent, doesn’t take orders well, and won’t accept decisions made for her, especially if she doesn’t agree with them.

I loved her fire. She’s stronger than just brute force—she stands up to actual monsters and to her own people (who, frankly, are worse). She doesn't bend easily, and it makes their dynamic so much more appealing.

Also, monster friendships? Way funnier than I expected. The interaction between Orpheus and his so-called “acquaintance” had me chuckling. An awkward friendship/non-friendship dynamic.

I wanted to know more about the world and would have liked more world-building at points but the story and romance was well worth the read.

Beauty and the Beast but different in a good way. predictable at times but still kept me interested. I liked the little twists and how the FMC made mistakes, but learned from them.

the only complaint I have is that the author doesn't know what eons are, because they aren't as short as 2 centuries.and that the FMC doesn't understand why other humans would be upset if they were "saved" by the creature that ate their family. these are forgiven for how good the rest of the book is.

Ok, what is up with dark/monster romance love interests being secretly so darn sweet? He's a demon in this case, he doesn't look sweet, he definitely is fighting his own inner turmoil but goodness me was watching him fall in love with our FMC and wanting to care for her just so gosh darn cute. They get crafty together and he wears what she makes him *insert big eyes*. The ending gets a tad odd but if I was here for normal, I wouldn't be reading this LOL. I did feel like 544 pages for this kind of story was long but at the same time, I'm totally still going to read the sequel so take that as you will. I listened to the audiobook and found the narration enjoyable!

A Soul to Keep was my first dive into the world of monster romance, and I have to say, I completely won over!

Pleasantly surprised & shocked with how much emotion and character development this book has.
The chemistry between the FMC and MMC was absolutely adorable.
The way their relationship unfolded was both heartwarming and thrilling, making me root for them all the way through.

Although I now have a very strong need to grow my own vegetables and berries.

I can't wait to see what adventures await in the rest of the series!

This book was so entertaining and different from any other paranormal bride series. I love the development of each character. The journey to find love, and Reia's inter turmoil but faith in herself and decisions. Many emotions i felt with this book, looking forward to adding this to my collection. The dystopian /fantasy part was really interesting and eventful. There was no boring moment in this department. The romantic part, as I'm a fan of fast paced romance, was a little frustrating because this part felt too slow burn for my liking! LOL But I loved that the book was mostly centered on the MC couple. The narrators did an amazing job making both Orpheus and Reia very real and distinctive from the other few characters that featured. Kudos to them.

I love this book. It gives off Beauty and the Beast vibes.It gives off touch her and dye vibes.And the main female character she's not weak and the main male character is strong.He comes off a little aggressive in the beginning but it's because he's learning.
I would definitely recommend this for anyone who's looking for a fantasy romance who also loves a good kind of redemption story.
