Wallis Kinney’s biggest sources of joy in life are science and fairytales. She tries to imbue elements of both into every story she writes. She studied planetary science and molecular biology at the University of Colorado and has a master's degree in economics from Purdue University. She is president of The Jane Bosart Foundation, her family’s private foundation that focuses on granting high school and college scholarships to underprivileged students. She wrote A Dark and Secret Magic as a gift for her older sister, in honor of all the years they spent celebrating the magical wonder of Halloween together. The narrator was excellent! She made this book really great! I would actually give this 5 stars for the genre, but I don't really care for the genre. Not sure why I didn't realize what genre it was, but I did listen to the whole thing and it was quite entertaining! As for the writing, I didn't like the excessive descriptions and the love scenes were annoying to me (but that's just me!--as I said, I am not a fan of this genre) and the ending had a part that didn't make sense (but it didn't stay that way). But mostly, this book was pretty good. As an ex-Wiccan, I recognized all the holidays/practices, as they are all Wiccan in nature. So that was interesting!
