About this audiobook

Jeannie MacPherson left her ice cream empire to find peace on a rustic Maine island. Instead she found irascible Matthew Connelly, recovering from a suspicious gunshot wound.

It didn’t help that he was drop-dead gorgeous. Or that he was just as reluctantly attracted to her as she was to him. Connelly had secrets, and Jeannie didn’t trust him.

But that wasn’t enough to keep her away from him. Or to keep her from following him when he left without warning.

Neither of them wanted to fall in love. But sometimes fate has other plans.

Editor's Note

New York Times Bestselling Author...

Stuart is known for her dark heroes, determined heroines, and plenty of fast action. “Rocky Road” is a different type of Stuart book: It’s a rom-com, though the reserved hero with plenty of secrets is still present. Here, a woman escapes to Maine, where she meets a man recovering from a gunshot wound (the book is funny, we promise). There’s a cross-country chase, a lot of banter, and two people falling reluctantly in love.

It was a shallow at the ending. It could have been better developed.

I enjoyed this story and the different characters in it.

I really loved this book, it’s well written and the characters were engaging. The one thing I wasn’t quite sure about was the fact that Everand lists this as a romantic comedy. I didn’t find one bit of the story the least bit funny. But the book redeemed its first impression and I’m glad I continued it. But if you’re looking for romance and a bit of comedy you’ll probably want to look elsewhere. If you’re ok with romance and a lot of fighting tension (sexual, physical and emotional) you’ll love it.

Should've listened for other comments. The beginning was quite good.. but then, wth!? It's just dumb. The woman is ridiculous. The guy is obtuse for no reason. Waste of my time.

Interesting but she became strange and a borderline stalker. Written well can picture descriptive scenes

Janie is a crazy stalker. If this had been a guy she’d have had a restraining order. She jumps to conclusions. Why didn’t she just Google him? Also along those same lines if some guy swung a lobster trap at some women, knocked her into the water broke her ribs and hand he’d be in jail on abuse charges. She needs anger management. I skipped the last few chapters because I’d had more than enough and no longer cared.

I got lost about half way through and it just didn't keep my attention. I wanted to like it because I was enjoying the banter and tension between characters but then it fizzled.

This girl turned into a total idiot. Not what I expected with the way the author made her seem in the beginning of the book. Seems like she changed her heroines character in the middle of the book.

This is one of her best books I have read so far . Good plot with good characters.

This story is mildly entertaining for the first three quarters of the book. Then it takes a nosedive into being so over-the-top nonsensical that it is totally unbelievable. The main character, although a bit “off,” from the beginning, turns into a caricature. Her behavior is unbelievable and, if this were real life, she would have been committed to a mental health facility for evaluation. I kept reading, hoping the author would redeem herself, but it was a waste of my time.

The heroine was simply pathetic by the end, and physically abusive. She actually broke his bones. Seriously. It started out pretty good, but by the end, I was rolling my eyes every 30 seconds. There’s more, but I won’t bother. The narrator was really great, though!

Honestly if the roles were reversed and he stalked/abused/harassed her like she did him, this wouldn’t even be allowed to be published. The heroine is clearly unstable and obsessive. I stopped listening after she went on her 5 day harassment binge. Gross.

A fun read. The main characters easily fall in love with each other but have a terrible time communicating with each other. Due to this, the heroine makes terrible decisions that lead her into trouble after trouble until the reader wonders if they can have a HEA. But there is at last a very satisfying HEA.
