Description
Today we are sitting down with mother of 3, content creator and family influencer Heydy Lopez. We talk about Heydy’s journey of motherhood, the challenges of becoming a teen mother at age 16, how the closeness in age to her oldest son has made their bond super strong, and how it feels that he is currently the same age she was when she became a mom. She gets into what it was really like being a teen mom, how she navigated parenting desicions while finishing high school. Heydy shares about the impact of being raised by a single immigrant mother, coming to Canada as a child refugee and how her childhood impacted her values, drive and work ethic.
We talk about how she met her husband, why they made the decision to move their young family from Vancouver to Calgary, building community in a new city, the challenges of making friends as an adult (and why keeping them is even harder) and the grief that comes along with leaving your home town. Heydy opens up about why it takes her a long time to let people in, the difference between acquaintances and friends, the impact of shared experiences and seasons, and not having closure in friendships ending.
She shares her journey into becoming a full time content creator, how the pandemic impacted her career, and how sharing her story turned into creating and growing community. She tells how she got her husband and family on board, how she sets boundaries with social media and why she doesn’t force herself to show up. We talk about the importance of pouring into yourself, how she prioritizes “me time”, releasing internal guilt and why she takes herself on dates, and the positive impact it has on her marriage.
PLUS: Finding yourself within the throws of motherhood, being the “cool mom”, how she created the house the teens want to hang out at.
