Description

The plaintiff says her uncle died, and the defendant — his supposed dear friend — stole all his belongings. She never gave him permission, so she’s suing for the value of the items. The defendant says he helped clean out the condo and only took a few small items with sentimental value.
Then, the plaintiff says the defendant is his sister. He claims he bought a car from her, but it’s a giant lemon and she won’t take it back. He’s suing for a refund. The defendant says her brother drove the car and worked just fine, and she had to go to the cops because the plaintiff and his wife were harassing her.
Plus, the plaintiff says she rented an apartment from the defendant and soon found it was unsuitable for her and her son because the neighbors were partying pot smokers and mail thieves. The plaintiff was let out of her lease, but the defendant kept some of the deposit, so she’s suing. The defendant says she has every right to withhold the money because the plaintiff broke the lease.

"The People’s Court Podcast" draws on ordinary people who have filed grievances in civil court and have opted to have their cases heard and mediated by Judge Milian.
